What I’m about to share with you is coziness in a cup. This caffeine-free golden milk latte is perfect for chilly winter (or end of winter, not quite spring) nights when you want something a bit heartier than a mug of tea, but don’t quite want to commit to cocoa or a glass of wine. Plus it’s packed with good-for-you ingredients, like turmeric, which gives it a lovely golden color while working as an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immune-booster. Not only is it healthy, it’s soothing – I swear I can feel myself relax as soon as I take a sip.
This golden milk latte (and I use that term loosely – this doesn’t actually have any caffeine making it the perfect bedtime beverage) couldn’t be easier or quicker to make, and it’s super customizable. Feel free to double the recipe if you’re sharing. Swap out maple syrup for honey for a vegan option. Make it as sweet or as strong as you’d like. Once you make it a few times, you’ll find the perfect blend of spices and sweeteners.
Light a candle, grab a blanket and a book, and curl up with a comforting golden milk latte.
- 1 cup non-dairy milk (I prefer almond or oat milk for this)
- 1 teaspoon honey, or to taste (use maple syrup to keep this vegan)
- ½ teaspoon coconut oil
- ⅛ teaspoon ground turmeric
- ⅛ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of black pepper
Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat and whisk until mixture comes to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes. Give it a quick stir, then pour into a mug. Enjoy and relax!
