Our strawberry season is finally here—and nothing screams summer quite like getting your hands dirty by heading to one of the local pick-your-own farms. Michigan strawberry season usually begins early June and lasts for 2-3 weeks, depending on the weather and how fast the fields get picked.
It’s a great opportunity for kids to understand where their food comes from, to get outside, and to help support your local farmers. The memories it brings back of sitting on the straw covered ground, face and hands stained red from picking berries, and surrounded by endless rows and rows of strawberries. These were the memories I enjoyed so much as a kid and love sharing these traditions with my son.
Be sure to follow our social media with ways to preserve and enjoy your berries longer; how to freeze property, make jam, fruit leathers, dehydrate, and simple syrup.
